If the response to the emergence of the pop up scene is anything to go by, then it’s safe to say that Perth locals are voting with their feet when it comes to a good market.
Today we take a look at what is Perth’s biggest pop up to date, the Perth Upmarket. Located in the grounds of the University of Western Australia (UWA) in Nedlands, it really provides a great setting for such a comprehensive market.
You will be sure to find something here of interest. With over 150 stalls that range from art, craft, baby items, photography, clothing, jewellery, amazing food and, most importantly on a warm day, cold beverages and ice cream – you’ll be sure to come across something you like! There are even a few cash machines on site which is very thoughtful.
The market is centred around the impressive Winthrop Hall with stalls inside and out, with the food stalls lining Hackett Hall and the surrounding grassed areas. The grassed area in front of Winthrop Hall made for a lovely spot to eat lunch!
Lunch probably isn’t for the indecisive though. Options include Paella, Korean barbecue, a German sausage stall, Peruvian empañada and gozleme to name a few. I eventually decided on a German hot dog with sauerkraut and mustard – a good choice.
Perth Upmarket runs quarterly and the next one is set for Sunday June 26, running between 10am and 4pm. There is plenty of parking on site which is free along with free entry too. So pop it in your diary, it’s a great way to spend a Sunday! Until next time,
